A year ago, during great personal distress, I composed Fragility. Now I am haunted by the same feelings as are so many of my family and friends. One might have hoped that after having faced a devastating biological threat and crippling restrictions in all aspects of our lives, humanity would find more appreciation for the transience and delicacy of its existence but, as in the generations past, the most powerful currency still remains a show of force, war, and destruction.
As an artist, I am a builder. My bricks are intangible, for many irrelevant or incomprehensible. My mortar is solace, pain, dust, and frustration, but also hope, imagination, and resilience. Whoever you are, whatever you do, I hope you are also a builder and we can draw strength from our fragility.
